Watch again: Mass to mark the Convocation of Synod
In order to mark the diocesan phase of the Synod, which will run between October 2021 – April 2022, Archbishop John Wilson celebrated Mass in St George's Cathedral on Sunday 17th October at 10 am.
During this initial stage of local participation, the faithful within parishes are asked to contribute to a diocesan consultation, culminating with a pre-synodal assembly. The Holy Father has stated that the synod in an important exercise in listening to each other, so that clergy and laity across the world may, with unity of purpose, and as one body, discern the will of the Holy Spirit for the contemporary Church.
This is a significant moment at the beginning of the 2021-2023 Synod, which carries the theme of Communion, Participation, Mission.
