CUC Event on ‘The Bishop and Christian Unity: An Ecumenical Vademecum’
Tuesday 19th October, 6pm
The Commission is planning a further free Zoom event that is open to all on Tuesday 19th October, probably at 6pm. It will be about the recent important publication by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, ‘The Bishop and Christian Unity: An Ecumenical Vademecum’ (you can view the publication here: 2020 12 04 Vademecum online).
The document is published with the blessing of Pope Francis, and offers useful recommendations for promoting the involvement of dioceses in the ecumenical movement under the guidance of their pastors and inspired by the Catholic principles of ecumenism.
Fr Jan Nowotnik, Director of Mission and National Ecumenical Officer at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, has kindly agreed to introduce the document to us and to lead our discussion. Further details, including booking arrangements, will be provided as soon as possible. Meanwhile, please make a note in your diaries!

CUC Discussion on The Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham
Ten years on from the establishment of the Ordinariate, how should this project for the quest for Christian unity now be seen? The CUC held an online event on 14th April where there was a discussion on this and other aspects of the Ordinariate between Bishop Paul Hendricks, Assistant Bishop in the Archdiocese of Southwark, and Fr Christopher Pearson OLW.
The event was recorded and can be watched below.
Interfaith and Interchurch Dialogue: How are they Different?
Many Christians today consider dialogue and cooperation with people of other faiths as at least as pressing an issue as the search for unity between Christians of different traditions. The Christian Unity Commission held its first online conference on 30th November 2020. This event was organised to help us to learn more about the contribution that the Roman Catholic Church makes to interfaith activity in London (north and south).
The event was recorded on Zoom and can be watched below.
